Enrollment going on for CTS for second semester 2010-2011

Enrollment is going on for CTS for second semester 2010-2011. Classes begin on October 30 for the first year level and November 6 for the second year level.













Courses offered:

First year
Pastoral Introduction to the New Testament - Fr. Randy Flores, SVD, SSL

Time: 1:30 pm - 4:30 pm
The course presents a survey of the writings of the New Testament and their context. Major themes and controversial texts that can shed light on today’s pastoral issues will also be discussed.
Fr. Randy Flores, SVD obtained a Licentiate in Sacred Scripture (SSL) from the Pontifical Biblical Institute in Rome (Biblicum) and the director of the CTS program.

Church, Kingdom of God & Mission - Fr. John Fuellenbach, SVD, SThD /
Fr. Alex Muana, SVD, SThL

Time: 9:00 am - 12:00 pm
The first part of the course discusses the Church as a community for the Kingdom of God. The second part presents the Church as missionary by its very nature. It focuses on significant moments of the Christian movement, from the early Church to the end of the 20th century. Then it develops a theology of mission for today based on the missionary practice and theology of the Catholic, Orthodox, Protestant, Evangelical and Pentecostal Christianity.
 Fr. John Fuellenbach, SVD is a former professor of the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome, well-known theologian speaker and author of number of books on the Kingdom of God like Church: Community for the Kingdom(2006).
Fr. Alex Muana, SVD holds a Licentiate in Sacred Theology from the Gregorian University, Faculty of Missiology, Rome. He is the current dean of studies of the Divine Word Seminary.

Second Year
Gospels - Sr. Miriam Alejandrino, OSB, SSL, STD
Significant texts from the four Gospels, especially those that are used in Sunday liturgy, will be discussed including the Infancy, Passion, and Resurrection Narratives.
Time: 9:00 am - 12:00 pm
Sr. Miriam Alejandrino, OSB obtained her Licentiate in Sacred Scripture from Biblicum and Doctorate in Sacred Theology from the Gregorian University.

Moral Theology and Catholic Social Teachings - Fr. Regie Lavilla, MSP, SThL
This course brings theology to its practical application to everyday life. Thus, it presents the teachings of the Church on Christian morality as gleaned from the Sacred Scripture and from the Catholic moral tradition. An emphasis is given to the social teachings of the Church as central to the understanding of the social mission of the Catholic Church in Philippine society. A discussion on the controversial RH Bill from the point of view of moral theology will also be discussed.
Fr. Regie Lavilla, MSP holds a Licentiate in Sacred Theology from the Alfonsianum Faculty of Moral Theology in Rome.
